On May 27, 2021, Sonic Central celebrated 30 years of Sonic the Hedgehog. The anniversary of the speed running hedgehog included a list of announcements of the upcoming installments for the character.
Sonic the Hedgehog was released on June 23, 1991. The symbol, fan favorite, and mascot of Sega has been known for saving the world for 30 years. Sonic was born with the ability to fold up into a concussive ball, fundamentally to assault adversaries. The character known for his accommodating attitude and the love for opportunity when it comes to adventure. Uses his skills to battle wickedness and Dr. Eggman.
At Sonic Central, the announcement focused on the reveal of Sonic Colors Ultimate. Sega stated they are focused on additional features, visuals, but most of all improved gameplay enhancements. In addition to this their will be a two-part animated title Rise of the Wisps. The first episode will launch later in the summer.
Sonic Colors: Ultimate — will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on September 7th.
Sonic Mania and Team Sonic Racing on Amazon’s Luna cloud service.
Sonic Forces – PlayStation Now on June 1st.
Sonic Mania will be available on Epic Games Store on June 24th.
A new collection of the classic games called Sonic Origins.
Sonic Origins will include Sonic CD and the first three Sonic games.
Sonic Prime: The Netflix series. The series will include voice actor Roger Craig Smith, who will be rejoining his role as the iconic character. The series will include 24 episodes.
Sonic will be making appearances in Two Point Hospital on July 22 and the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 game. This will allow players to dress up in Sonic gear.
Sonic Forces: Speed Battle on mobile will receive Super Sonic. Sonic Racing will receive additional characters, cars, and tracks. On both Forces and Dash, the Werehog will be available as a Halloween addition. Sonic Dash will add a pirate-themed event.

Make sure to keep an eye out and more announcements throughout the year. The team has been working incredibly hard to share and bring Sonic to all new platforms. This will allow more accessibility for the character to be enjoyed more universally.
