AEW Dynamite lives up to its name…and where was Kenny?

I know there was a tag team match for the main event but for various reasons, I didn’t delve into it way too much.

Okay…so that episode of AEW Dynamite tonight was pretty damn wild. It was so wild I had to take some notes on the amazingness that I had witnessed and had to make sure that I saw my own eyes what everyone else in the nation and the world say: Dynamite being awesome as usual. So let’s start with the opening match shall we?

For weeks, some people have assumed that Cody Rhodes, who is the current TNT Champion, has a “god like complex and he’s putting himself over or burying” people…which is far from true. What Cody Rhodes has established is a weekly challenge for his TNT belt that anyone and everyone can wrestle him for. We’ve seen him wrestle Lance Archer to Sonny for the title and time after time we’ve seen some pretty darn good matches and wrestlers obtain the opportunity to challenge for a title. Cody understands the importance of being the TNT Champion and if that means putting the title on the line each week, then so be it. Eighteen year wrestling veteran Eddie Kingston walked out with a good selection of words he hurled towards Cody and his coach Arn Anderson before telling Cody that they were going to battle in a no disqualification match and they sure did. It was a close match as both men brought the fight and didn’t hold back any punches. Literally. And Kingston made sure that he brought out the dreaded thumbtacks. I hate thumbtacks. Of course, Cody was power bombed right onto the tacks…ouch! But of course, the champ retained his gold but he sure did put on a great damn match with Kingston and I wouldn’t mind seeing another no disqualification match…minus the thumbtacks.

Moxley cuts a quick promo on Brian Cage and gloats in the fact that he almost put Brian Cage out of action for six entire months…inflicting pain on his opponents is his M.O., even if that means putting them in the hospital.

99. That’s the rating that MJF really said he’d have if he were a character in an AEW video game. I think he would rig the entire game if he could! He comes out to this match against Griff still saying he has been undefeated then pouts and loses his cool when he’s told that he lost in a tag team match at Fyter Fest. Listen: a loss is a loss. It doesn’t matter if it’s in a one on one match or a tag match. It’s a loss. Take the L and keep it moving, MJF! Of course, he used his usual nefarious tactics to pick up a win tonight and still continued to gloat about being the best wrestler in AEW. Bah. I guess it’s okay to dream.

Britt Baker is indeed a role (roll) model. She deserves to be protected at all costs and all of the conspiracies must stop against her. Her firing off at Tony and her assistant is proof that sometimes you just have to put people in their place. I truly hope she is able to return at All Out and show the world just why she is the role (roll) model that she says she is. Britt Baker is the Michael Jordan of the women’s division and everyone should be on notice. (Note: The Michael Jordan reference is when he returned the first time to the sport after leaving it to play baseball. Tony, get it right next time!!!)

Brian Cage and Taz seem to be getting along again…and now they have Ricky Starks on board as well. They tossed Darby around like a rag doll when he skated out to attack them but finally got saved by the AEW Champ Moxley when Mox ran to his rescue with a barbed wired bat to ward off Cage, Starks, and Starks. Their tornado tag team match next week should be rather interesting so we’ll see how that turns out…we may see a skateboard flying in the air or towards a cameraperson. We shall see.

Just a daily reminder: Orange Cassidy messed up Chris Jericho’s $7,000 jacket! IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ALL WHITE JACKET! ARGH!!!!!

Okay, I’ve never seen a match start in a kitchen before. Ever. The Young Bucks weren’t going to wait for The Butcher and The Blade to bring the fight to them…they charged into the kitchen bringing the fight to their opponents who were slicing meat as if they had no care in the world. In pops their opponents and then that’s when the real fun starts. Baking pans, pieces of meat, and any item either tag team could get their hands on to use…including the door of one of the AEW trucks…where Nick was slammed into a photo of himself on the truck…is that some type of inception thing? Dream within a dream within a dream within a…okay, you get the point. I hope The Blade enjoyed his ride up the escalator after receiving a nice super kick. It’s always good to quickly rest during a tough match, you know? The Bucks and Butcher and Blade (I will call them B&B for short) continued to put on a quick paced but awesome back and forth match that ended with The Bucks securing their win thanks to elbow drops from the tunnels and onto B&B which sent them crashing through the table. The Bucks put on legit great matches and some criticism towards them has been that “they’re spot monkeys” which is a complete lie. The tag team division is stacked with talent upon talent who bring their own unique characters and skills to the tag team division which makes each match we see simply great. And speaking of tag teams…

Sixteen women in eight teams in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament: The Deadly Draw. Some have criticized the women’s division for not offering good matches but the truth is that AEW has been working with who they can as real life issues have caused most of the roster to not be present. But with the debut of Dimante and Ivelisse and AEW telling us of Deadly Draw, I’d really love to see where this goes. Maybe we can get a tag team championship for the women? That would be quite interesting!

Brodie keeps trying to recruit Hangman Adam Page to join and Page had politely declined to join their cult. Page suffers for turning down the invitation and luckily FTR comes in with the save…but Kenny Omega took his sweet time to save his partner. Brodie did mention that Hangman should always a partner that would be there to help him out whenever he’s in danger…and yet FTR came to the rescue first. This should make for some interesting Being The Elite material…

Jurassic Express. I can honestly see them as tag team champions in the future because damn they are a fantastic trio and seeing Jungle Boy and Chris Jericho go at it is always a treat!

Tonight’s episode of Dynamite was one for the books but I still wonder…where was Kenny???
